The Power of the Sketch
curated by Jorge Posada
April 2 - April 30
Opening Reception: April 2025

The sketch is the genesis, the channel of communication between an initial idea and its materialization. The sketch contains all the primary elements that will contribute to the final result of a creative project.
Visual artists, architects, musicians, designers, and writers rely on the "sketch" or draft to clarify an idea that will be transformed through a process of elimination and addition into a tangible, visual, and present reality.
The intention of "The Power of the Sketch" is to present the transformation of an idea—the magical moment when it is born—and how it evolves to clarify the internal dialogue of the creator’s mind. The exhibition will be open to different disciplines that showcase the dynamics encapsulated in the creative process.
The Power of the Sketch, is to present the transformation of an idea, the magical moment when it was born and how it has changed to clarify the internal dialogue of the creator mind.”
Special Celebration: The first LIC Artists Drawing Salon took place in the spring of 2020 as a digital exhibition of artists' drawings during the early days of COVID. The show spotlighted the spirit, creativity, and resourcefulness of NYC artists during lockdown. To celebrate NYC artists during this special 5th anniversary edition of the Drawing Salon, two participants from the April exhibition will be selected for a two-week exhibit organized by LIC Artists in early 2026. One artist will be chosen by the public and one by the curator.
