Jana Astanov is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and an independent curator, born in Mazury Lake District of Poland and currently living in the U.S. She is a founder of CREATRIX Magazine: www.creatrixmag.com, portal for creative expression focused on art, activism and spiritual practice. Her work includes performance art, multimedia, and writing. She is the author of five collections of poetry: Antidivine, Northern Grimoire, Sublunar, The Pillow Book of Burg, and Birds of Equinox. She also founded Red Temple Press, an Imprint of CREATRIX Magazine dedicated to poetry. Her new book of poetry Avant-Garden focused on the Shawangunks is coming out in 2025. She often performs as ASTRALOOP, combining her poetry with dark electronic arrangements using instruments of her own creation. She has performed at Tate Modern, Smack Mellon Gallery, Grace Exhibition Space, Venice Biennale, Documenta 2017, and many other galleries, festivals and independent venues worldwide.
