Artist Statement:
Jacqueline Davis is a multidiciplinary artist who works in a range of mediums including painting, sculpture, collage, text based works (bookmaking) and interactive installation, with a central focus on spiritual and environmental processes of reciprocity from the indigenous feminine perspective. Her exploration of relationships between the human body, psyche and the natural world focus on dismantling contemporary philosophical conventions and imperialistic ideologies. Using references of quantum theory, self collected natural specimens and visions conceived through meditation, she creates meditative interactive paintings as a process to interpret energetic non-physical symbolic forms existing beyond the material realm.
In her recent series, “We are All Made of Stars”, The viewer is encouraged to engage with paintings and small scale porcelain sculptures imbedded with natural stones, leading into a meditative energy exchange of observation between human species and planet earth within the cosmos sharing one identity as breathing, feeling life forms existing under a fundamental concept of oneness.
