Artist Bio:

Esteban Monsalve is an abstract and visual artist known for creating pieces using plaster and acrylic to craft rich textures that evoke emotion and depth. He also specializes in custom mural designs and faux textured finishes for both commercial and residential spaces. Born and raised in Venezuela, Esteban discovered his passion for art at a young age, inspired by his aunt Elda—a talented painter who nurtured his creative spirit.

His multidisciplinary path—from engineering and fitness to photography—shaped a deep appreciation for form, movement, and aesthetics. These varied experiences now inform his artistic approach, blending structure and spontaneity in every piece.

During the pandemic, Esteban—like many—faced the emotional weight of isolation and job loss. Struggling with depression and anxiety, he returned to nature as a way to ground and reconnect. Whether hiking the mountains of upstate New York or diving into the Atlantic Ocean, he found healing in nature’s textures, rhythms, and contrasts. This reconnection ignited his return to painting, where he discovered the transformative power of Art Therapy to recalibrate the mind and body.

Esteban’s work explores the emotional energy of natural elements through the mediums of acrylic and plaster, applied in expressive layers over canvas or directly onto walls. His abstract murals and textured finishes reflect a tactile, immersive experience—bringing depth, movement, and identity to the spaces they inhabit. Each piece is created slowly and intentionally, with multiple layers built up over time to achieve a rich, dynamic surface.

From moody neutrals to vibrant accents, Esteban’s custom pieces are designed to elevate interiors with a sense of story, emotion, and quiet power. His artistic influences include Jackson Pollock, Willem De Kooning, Mark Rothko, Jesús Rafael Soto, and Barnett Newman.

Today, Esteban creates from his studio in Queens, New York—offering bespoke mural installations, textured wall treatments, and abstract canvas work for clients seeking to transform their spaces into something meaningful, soulful, and unforgettable.
