Katie Goodman
As a lifelong comedian and improviser, I am filled to the brim with words. So when I came to abstract expressionism, my first thought was, "Wait! No words?!?! Oh thank god!" I like to insert some comedy into the paintings, but most of all, it's a raging delight to not have to spell out exactly what I'm thinking. And as an improviser, I am thrilled beyond belief in that I can use just my hands and eyeballs to sprawl, splatter, and kerplunk thoughts and emotions onto the canvas.
