Jennifer Merdjan

Jennifer Merdjan has been creating artwork by recycling and repurposing all of her shoes for over 25 years!

Working with recycled materials is a prominent method in Jennifer's two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork. These materials emphasize the passage of time—a prevalent narrative in her artwork. Her signature artwork uses shoes to create sculptures and is also the title of her artistic book If Shoes Could Talk. Colorful pages place inspiring messages next to her shoe sculptures.

Other two-dimensional artwork she makes intermixes several methods of artistry, including drawing, photography, painting, collage, and digital printing. These works comment on different cultural customs, environments & spaces.
