Curated by Norma Homberg
An LIC Arts Open collaboration with The Secret Theater. Hosted by LIC-A at the Plaxall Gallery.
This fine art exhibition will run concurrently with – and serve as the backdrop for – The Secret Theatre’s full- length, immersive production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.
Elements and dreams collide in this turbulent exhibition that has been specifically curated to portray the space where The Secret Theatre will perform "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare. Both the darkness & the light....the magic and the love, the storm and the light after the storm are reflected in the artwork in ...dream again.
Through sound, movement, light & color, the art on the walls will bring elegance and complexity to this immersive production, resulting in a truly unique experience. Caliban’s association with "darkness and dirt" is the opposite of Miranda's association with purity and light and the actual lighting plays a large role in this “dark exhibition," where the art is lit with spotlights and projections (on the bare portions of the gallery walls) that are a part of the actual production and the fine art exhibition.
...dream again features artwork by Oscar Aguilar, Katelyn Alain, Molly Aubry, Kimberly Abbott, John Breiner, LV Casey, Nicholas Christopher, Karen K. Dimit, Debra Friedkin, Valeria Haedo, Alexis Hilliard, Rebecca Kanfer, Stephen Keltner, Thea Lanzisero, Tanya Lucadamo, Cat Murphy, Lisa Nanni, Suzanne Pemberton, Jorge Posada, Eleanor Rahim, Sarah Richardson, Sawyer Rose, Poramit Thantapalit, Yelena Tylkina, Roussina Valkova and Mar- garet Ann Withers.
On View: March 7 – March 31, 2019

Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices
That, if I then had waked after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again; (3.2.148-153) - Caliban
