Siu Wong-Camac
My work is visceral and dreamlike with no beginning or end: a portrait of mental spaces and states. It’s the sediments of an experience that is explored: the feelings and memories that remain; be it pleasure and pain, beauty and decay, dreams and desires, all coming to the forefront in a semi-abstract, semi-realistic visual exploration.
Everyday disposable ephemera and materials are chosen and is used to give it a new permanence: pieced together, fragmented, layered, drawn and painted over. Combining collage, mixed media elements and paint helps achieve a desired affect that happens intuitively and organically. The fragmented imagery, layers of paint, the interplay between color, texture and form - all create a poetic symmetry of emotion.
