Artist Bio:

I was born in the Dominican Republic, in the southern part of San Jose  de Ocoa. I have been described as a mischievous child but I was a very  studious girl, who was artistically inclined to painting. My dream is to  one day be a well known artist. At the Bellas Arts School I was not the  best student, however, motivated by my love of art, I strived to  improve until I met my goal, which was to graduate from the school.  I emigrated to New York in 2000 for a higher education. I enrolled in  several art courses at the Stratford Career Institute. I was a  successful student and was able to graduate with flying colors. In 2010,  I graduated from Lehman College whilst majoring in Studio Art, both  painting and education. From 2000 to 2016 I have been participating in  several art exhibits including: the NYCHA Art Show, the Rush Art  Gallery, the Casa Puebla Mexican Organization,  El Centro Civico  Cultural Dominicano, the United Nations Art Show, the General Consulate  of Dominican Republic, the Longwood Art Project, the Lehman College Art  Gallery, etc. In my free time I embarked on many different art projects  that I came to enjoy a lot. I hope that I will have the opportunity to  continue to create art for the rest of my life.

Artist Statement:

My art revolves around the freedom of imagination and self-expression  from within my soul. Any person or object can become the subject of my  artworks. A blank canvas motivates me to create art that is open to  interpretation from the audience. I allow my emotions to pour out of me  when I create art, letting my feelings guide my hands along the canvas.  Using techniques like drawing or painting, I enjoy creating pieces that  illustrate the world around me. My favorite subject is the male portrait  with expressions I am focusing on the eyes. I believe the eyes are a  reflection of a person’s soul, and they are the first thing I look at  when I meet someone. My motivation comes from my heart.
