Gilly Gil-Lugo

My artwork combines the whimsy of classic children’s picture book and the elegance of fashion illustration. I am inspired by the energetic brushstrokes found in a John Singer Sergeant painting as well as the lyrical lines used by fashion illustrator Rene Gruau. Being a part of a large extended family also serves as inspiration. My own children, nieces and nephews are often used as subject matter. Great ideas also come to me during conversations with loved ones,in a car or at the kitchen counter.
