Cara Lynch
Working across different media, I explore tensions between art and craft, class and taste, beauty and value, sentiment and spectacle.I am intrigued by what we pass on, what we find worthy to preserve over time, and how these things relate to the present. My process begins with the collection of material. I create new memorials to the present through interactions with objects I collect from daily life or discover through historical research. Objects of American pressed glass, appropriated vocabularies of decoration, and domestic craftworks are some that I am currently considering.
