Flag, 2020
Andrew Wheatley
Digital collage
12 x 18"
NFS
A flag design about working together and keeping each other safe.
As an editorial illustrator, I aim to create eye-catching illustrations that communicate complex ideas and concepts. I enjoy creative problem solving-determining what I want the image to say, and how to relay specific ideas. I believe that images should be in a dialogue with each viewer-allowing them to interpret and piece together the narrative themselves.
My work has been published in: The Guardian, Wired, The Globe & Mail, The Leeds Guide, The Ecologist, and New Internationalist-and I was selected for the Association of Illustrators' Images 32 Exhibition: The Best of British Contemporary Illustration.

Universe window black rose, 2020
Jacqueline Sferra Rada
Monotype collage
12 x 9"
$175
During the Sheltering In period I began to explore the hand print monotype process which is a radically different medium for me that has opened a path to non-objective, pure color works and abstract compositions. While it is an extremely simple process. it is deeply engrossing in its infinite variety of possibilities of both color and composition. Collaging pieces of the printing papers to the finished print became the final stage to completion. When one is involuntarily removed from 'normal' routines and locations new, untried approaches evolve. When time is seemingly unending and there are no schedules or commitments to meet the natural flow of energy is unhindered and uncensored. The print submitted here is part of the ongoing exploration of this medium which is a hand printed monotype with pieces of the printing papers collaged into the final piece. While there is no subject matter or connection to anything physical. I have chosen to title it as relating to the Universe...

Quarantine I, 2020
Kaiser Kamal
Mixed media on paper
$100
Artist Statement: Like everyone else in NYC, I was stuck in my apartment due to the lock down. Following the guide, the line to stay safe with the family. TV and Internet news became part of life. These drawings are inspired by every news I watched during this time. Every news from friend or family as someone get infected by the virus. Every Death. Anytime heard someone overcome and get recovered.

Beyond Borders Passage of Time, 2020
Sin-ying Ho
Porcelain
20 x 15 x 27"
$6,500
Under this unprecedent time caused by Covid-19, I strongly admit that we are no longer living in a singularity society or country. We are connected with crossed boarders not only in a macroscope world but also in a microscope and virtual world. I was inspired by the images of the actual coronavirus, 5G cloud, corporate logos and stock market index charts that I then transferred by a digital decal technique. These images of the living virus, consumerism and the trace of technology create a visual metaphor that expresses the relationship between the never changing human nature and the continuing change of our physical world.
Drawing on my Asian background and experiences in Western cultures, I constantly explore the “collision of cultures” in my ceramic work.

Entangled Before History, 2020
Linda Vigdor
Watercolor, gouache, & Flashe on paper
13 x 24"
$450
As many ruminate on the potential cataclysm of irreversible climate change and species extinction, a babble of science, myths, and fears creates hurdles in agreeing on a future worth saving. My art making confronts the disconnect between an understanding that humans possess the most developed brains on the planet, yet also exhibit the most broadly destructive and short-sighted thinking of any species. Through painting I think through the question of why humans continue, seemingly oblivious, on a path of self and planet destruction. I paint landscapes of the Anthropocene using molecular and macro-scale imagery to suggest tensions between two cosmologies: the systems intelligence of Earth vs. humans’ belief in ever greater consumption and novelty.

Just a flower, 2020
Leda Maria
Photography
$200
During this summer, I have made a series of photos of my neighbor's gardens.
It was very hard for me to stay locked down for too many months at home.
When I could get out of my house, I saw everything from a different perspective. Life is beautiful, and we can't get bored with nature. I am very proud of what I accomplished during this period of my life. Life and nature are beautiful, and I am more and more enchanted of what we can accomplish through the walking around that I have done.

June Kosloff
Mixed media-silkscreen on newspaper (NY Post) using acrylic, permanent marker & pen
11 x 12"
Price upon request
I created this piece in response to my feeling about all that happened in the year 2020 ie; the pandemic & the loss of life due to it, racial injustice ie; George Floyd killing and BLM protests throughout the world, and the real impacts everyday from climate change, and finally the current political situation which is teetering on authoritarianism. I believe we are in a watershed moment that will change the course of the history. Making this street art has helped me get through this really difficult time in both the creating of it and sharing it.

Fresh Air, 2020
Deborah Sherman
Gouache and graphite
12 x 9"
$600
A portrait executed during a quiet moment of thought outside in a backyard during the pandemic.Even during this time of trouble the fresh air and beauty of nature bring peace. The light on the figure lends a feeling of hope. Graphite with touches of color reinforce the expression of this depiction of tranquility during a difficult time.
My work has been inspired by my study of nature, as embodied in the figure, landscape and still life. Although I have worked in diverse media, my strongest efforts have been directed toward developing an expressive painting technique combining delicate yet graphic brushwork with intensive layering of color, to delineate evanescent human experience.

This bird has flown, 2020
Eric Friedman
Photography
40 x 30"
$300
A page from the Manchester VT Journal International Edition. An excerpt for for a book of my experiences in self quarantine.
Eric Friedmann is a painter and sculptor based in New York and works in Long Island City. He graduated summa cum laude in fine art and existentialist philosophy at Ithaca College, and later attended the School of Visual Arts. Since 1992, Friedmann has split his time and practice between New York, Germany, and Switzerland. His work focuses on the structures and systems of thought, and their simplification for a greater understanding of contemporary archaeology as it relates to current philosophies of art, politics, and feminism. Friedmann’s work encourages the viewer to question their place in the late post-modern Odyssey. The artworks help us to rediscover a liberating solace buried just below the surface, like a recurring dream or memory.

BLM, 2020
Jack Howard-Potter
Maquette for sculpture (ink)
8 x 12"
$250
My response to the BLM movement.
I work to capture movement in a medium that does not move. Using steel, which is an inherently rigid material, I work to convey a sense of fluid action in space. My work explores the wide range of movement of the human figure informed through my study of drawing the human anatomy. My sculptures seek to convey the motion of the body in extremely stressful and beautiful positions; the moment that a dancer is at the peak of a jump, the weightless split second before a body succumbs to gravity. I am describing an ephemeral action in steel to convey this moment for eternity. I want the viewer to visualize the actions that led up to a given pose and the actions that will follow it.

Impermanence, 2020
Elinore Schnurr
Oil on board
20 x 22"
$5,500
The people that we see here somewhat fragmented are victims of the glass mirrors that are reflecting them in odd ways as they move about in their intimate and solitary lives. When I find myself in a group, on the street, I am aware of fragments of other people as they move past me in a hurry to get where they are going, which is nowhere to me. They are pieces of others - hands, feet, eyes, it is such fun.
When the shutdown of the city occurred because of the pandemic, I soon discovered that I could continue painting in my studio. I have a small apartment in Long Island City that is adequate for eating and sleeping and that's about it. Oil paints, etc. are out of the question there. It is a one mile walk to my studio, I chose to walk, and it is a large room that is perfect for my creative life. No more visitors, no galleries, no distractions, no sales, no portraits, which I do on occasion, and except for running up a debt, quite perfect for making paintings. I had accumulated lots of drawings and photographs of crowds in Times Square so I could continue my series of crowds. But perhaps with a certain nostalgia and longing for an intertwined life "out there." www.elinoreschnurr.com

The Little Boy Who Listens to the Forest 2020
Fulvia Zambon
Oil on linen
32 x 36"
NFS
Last year I spotted a man in the street with three white dogs of unusual features, I thought I wanted to paint them and were in my mind for a year when I saw again and find an act of courage to talk to the guardian. The dogs were nine dogs rescued from India street by the actual guardian and brought here. Three remain with him, and six found a lovely new home. I imagined a little boy guardian, deeply connected with nature, talk with them like they have their world.
My work is about babies and kids in a cruel world. Some subjects are playful and some interrogative of the time we live, without accepting the dominant order of living creature, small humans can observe a lot and cannot agree with the adult explanation sensing something is wrong. They don't know how to make a change.
