Jean Foos is an abstract artist based in NYC. She works in painting, relief sculpture and installation. Exhibitions of her work favor offbeat, ad hoc urban settings: crumbling piers, abandoned military housing and community gardens. Her pieces engage grid structures and found materials. Using a varied and reductive visual language she transforms mundane objects with painted veils of lines and colors.
