Evan Brown
While a printmaker by training, I have taken to generating digital images edits using my mobile phone using processing apps such as Pixlr and Photoshop. Each image is the culmination of dozens of individuals layered upon each other, calibrated for transparency and luminosity. Conceptually, the work is introspective. I create these images as a means to explore rationalization and dissonance. It is my way of searching for sense and order within the cacophony of city life and within my own experiences. As a printmaker, I like to think sequentially—I tend to create work as part of a serial collection—many images making up the whole as if they were pages in a book.
