My sculptural paintings capture light and produce colored shadows. Stretchers act as looms that bear and encourage tension. Interactions and clashes of materials compose layers as well as gaps. Empty spaces punctuate the work giving it cadence and rhythm. Many of the attached pieces go beyond the stretchers creating ragged edges and specific overall shapes. The application of paint, contrary to most paintings, is a peripheral event, applied to the bare stretchers and only sparingly on stretched areas of fabric.

The pieces aim to incite ideas and thoughts of colored light as fragments of the totality and mystery that is our transparent and everyday daylight so often taken for granted.
