Bio: Lilian R. Engel was born in Brazil but grew up in Rhode Island from the age of 2. She earned a B.A in Technical Theatre/Liberal Arts from Rhode Island College before moving to New York City. Ms. Engel received a Certificate in Commercial Arts from the Center for the Media Arts and took courses at the School of Visual Arts. She attended open sketch classes at the Art Students League of New York where she discovered sculpture, her artistic passion ever since.

Statement: I have been inclined to express myself through art as far back as I can remember. Inspiration comes from many sources in life; nature, dance, music and global concerns. Through my art I hope to reach out and inspire others. I believe the social and political climate of an era is reflected through an artist's visual creations no matter how indirect they may be. My current series is especially concerned with recognizing that the earth is our home and reconciling industry with nature in a positive, non-destructive way.
