Amy Geller, born in New York City, lives and has her studio in Long Island City. She attended Cornell University for three years working toward her BFA and transferred to Hunter College where she received a BA in fine art. After graduation, Amy studied graphic design and illustration and has freelanced as a designer/illustrator since 1978. She has been in numerous shows including the juried annual New York Studio School Alumni Exhibition, the Brooklyn Working Artists Coalition (BWAC) shows in Red Hook, Brooklyn, the Kentler Gallery in Brooklyn, the Citibank lobby in Long Island City, and the Joseph P. Addabbo Federal Building in Jamaica, Queens. My work is varied. Recently I have been making abstract compositions with mixed media (ink, oil pastel, pencil, charcoal) and collaging pieces from previously done work. I like to combine disparate elements of varying textures, colors, media. I also do drawings onsite from nature and more abstract drawings inspired by nature in watercolor, watercolor pencils and conte crayon.
