Eunnye Yang was born and raised in South Korea. In 1995, she earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from E-Wha Women's University in Seoul, Korea, and moved on her own to New York City in 1996.
She completed her studies at the National Academy of Design School of Fine Arts in New York in 2006, and received the Edward Mooney Travel Prize, Newington-Cropsey Foundation Academy Award for Summer Study in Italy, and the Frismuth Whitney Prize for Young Sculptor. She has actively shown her sculptures through nationally and internationally-recognized juried competitions.
Eunnye comes from a background in many disciplines--dance, art, yoga, sculpture, and painting. Her medium, clay, is a tool to convey her utmost passion, dance, to a more, permanent visual art installation. Currently, she expands into molding yoga postures into sculptures that integrating her passion to dance.
Her portrait sculpture reflects her philosophies that despite humankind's diversity in culture, language and skin color--underneath we are all the same.
